I use Conexus Credit Union.

Any Credit Union will get you one.

Credit Unions use Mastercard for their global payment cards. They are ACTUALLY just hooked up to your checkings account, but they have a Mastercard logo on them. You can get a line of credit on them IF YOU WANT (and qualify), but I didn't want a line of credit, so I just had it hooked up to my checkings account.

You can get a pin number attached to them if you want too so you can use them at ATMs.

They were originally designed so that you could travel ANYWHERE in the world and take money out of an ATM. Since they are managed by Mastercard, and not TECHNICALLY your SPECIFIC bank, this is possible since Mastercard is accepted basically everywhere in the world.

If you just try and use your specific bank card in an ATM in like Europe or some places in the US or wherever, it won't work most of the time due to Dollars and Euros etc. And because you use a Canadian bank most likely, not an American one or Euro one.

I got one when I went to Cali to use to withdraw money when I was down there. I didn't have a credit card at the time and didn't want one. It worked great.

When I got back I realized it worked the EXACT same as a credit card, just hooked up to a checkings account, so I discovered I could use it for online purchases. They have a rear validation code just like a credit card, and the same amount of digits on the front, expiry date, etc. Everything is the same, just using checkings account and not credit.

I've been using it for online purchases for over two years and it's amazing...I love it haha. Sooo convenient. I hate credit cards, love this though.

Any bank that uses Mastercard will be able to get you a global payment card. Banks that use Visa probably can too, I just wouldn't know because I don't use a bank that associates with Visa.

Word up!

Only downside is that you may have to wait for the card in the mail for 10 days.

Also, you have to phone down to activate it from YOUR number, just like a credit card, so make sure your bank has your proper phone number when it gets ordered.

Should only take ya 5-10 minutes to get it set up at the bank, then wait for your card in the mail!

But word, not many people seem to know about these little things. But they are dope.

I've never had a problem with my credit card, and never really understood how some people do. Treat it like a debit card, like the money is coming out of your account, and there won't be any problems, right? I guess some people think, "Oh I don't have to pay this off for another month," but if you're not going to have the money for sure, why do it? I don't know, I've never really understood why people hate credit cards so much.

well, cause people usually DONT pay them off in a month.

and yeh, the rates are a steep.
but thats always gonna be the case on short term borrowing.
credit card companies have to remain liquid and in order to do that, there has to be some incentive to their borrowers to continuously pay back the money borrowed on a regulated basis.

AMEX doesnt let you carry a balance forward, i beleive (so its primarily used by business owners/corps who have steady cashflow and require a spending account)

you cant get around that.
the term of the lending and the interest rate are inversely related so that on average, the return on a array of investments (to the lender) are roughly the same (considering time value of money and so on)

I don't HATE credit cards, but it's much easier to make online purchases with a global payment card rather than to "treat your credit card as a debit card"

A global payment card IS a debit card. Why wouldn't you just skip the step for online purchases or other things if you have the money? Rather than charge it to your credit, then pay for it out of your account, you can just have it come out of your account this way.

Credit Cards are great when you need money, but in my opinion if you are just spending money you already have, and aren't worried about building a credit rating, then global payment cards are just great.

Credit Cards are designed exclusively to keep poor people poor. I used to work for Capital One... as shiesty and dirty as you probably already think credit card companies are, I can guarantee you they're ten times worse than you'd ever imagine.

I have that shit on both my credit cards and they keep taking my money and whenever I remember to try calling the assholes to end that shit, they are closed. I'm ready to knock those assholes out.

Also, one of my credit cards raised my limit without asking me, which kind of is cool and kind of pisses me off. It's funny though because my other card won't raise my limit when I ask them. Ha.

I just got my first platinum card suckas
I actually had a lot of problems with credit cards when they first gave me one. No word of a lie, I maxed it out on jordans the day it came in the mail. But after years of a kick ass banker helping me get my finances right, I mostly use my credit card for the aeroplan miles. Werd up to free flights.
