dude!! you forgot about PIMP-TON
you might as well make entire sections for stressed street, sideroad, ship records and clotheshorse while you're at it. _________________ ryanstinson.ca

I honestly like the idea of having this section, because it puts a lot of the threads I don't give a shit about in one small place. Much like the sports section. _________________ Fuck. |

see thats the point, these labels have pushed music out and have a proven track record.
i dont see why we have to give a forum to a label that just needs to talk about itself and the "sneak album peaks" released every few weeks to build some hype about a release that will be pushed back.
did pimpton release an actual physical copy of this album?
or was it just a release party for a cd-r?
id like to see some packaging/artwork/etc, because if it is a real album and done properly, it deserves to have a bit more than what ive seen on here.
this is no diss to actually putting music out and getting projects done, but theres no need to call so much attention to yourself |

Just to clear this up, Remedy approached me and I was down for it. Just as I would be down if side road or maybe ship records approached me as well. I am not really familar with stress street but if they are releasing enough materyial and workinmg with enough people and doing shows why not. I support local people doing ish and making moves. Remedy I think is doing enough in this city and working with enough people to constitute his own section, just as sideroad or ship is. I live in Regina by the way and its clear who the peopel who are out there working with people and layimng ish down.
306, Clotheshorse and Word Of Mouth alll had their own sections before the site went down and will again shortly. If heywood wanted his own section I would do that as well because he has done enough locally to constitute it. IMO. Just the way I look at things. Sask Hip Hop is all of you not just me or 2 other people.
Originally I wanted every artist/crew/business/production company to have their own subsite here or url redirection. For example, www.saskhiphop.com/propagate would redict to www.propagatestudios.com or whatever the url is or if the person did not have asite they would have a web page direcly on here dedicated to them. Within reason though. You have to be making moves and have done at least a few shows or potentialy moving to that point. Thats still my plan once this site is back up and running. I just got to get off my ass this year to do it. 306 Sk8 hip hop shop will have their own page up on here shortly as well. |

I don't disagree at all.
Propagate isn't a crew, it is an actual registered record label.
The Pimpton album is a real album also, its not a home CD burning/printing job. Ive actually seen that from record labels here that are apparently more credible _________________

This is HILARIOUS.
LOL@people bitching about having their own section on here...
LOL@people getting mad about others having their own section on here...
LOL@the fact that i could make a 'Aries Productions' section right now but i wont.
LOL@anyone who thinks having their own section on here is gonna do anything for them..
LOL@ Chapter bitching about cdr's...
With the amounts of units sold by most sask artists aside from a few people who are more serious with their music career.. there isn't much of a point in pressing your album if your just doing it for 'the love' or as a 'hobby' or not planning on touring/getting real distro....unless you have random money to waste...
Then even when you have real distro you get a very small portion of the money once the units sell anyway..just ask the people who have it already. Once everyone involved takes their cut your not left with much. Not to mention you gotta start somewhere chapter...im pretty sure everyone you know that makes music started out with mixtapes /cdr's...
Thats real hiphop.
I always see you typing shit about 'doin it for the love' ect but your opinion on this seems way off compared to how you normally type.
Like when i press my album i don't expect to make any money off it. I expect to lose money...its like a resume for me....But its gonna cost a hell of a lot to get them pressed. (and even more to do records) For some people pressing cd's just isn't an option until they build a fan base and actually see it being worth it to press them. Ive seen cdr's where i cant tell the difference until i flip the disk over. You can buy barcodes, get the dopest artists to do your cover art...get it printed on nice cardstock ect and its really hard to tell the difference how it was made.
At the same time theres a ton of companies out there these days that have really good prices for pressing. Some companies will go as low as 300 disks....so people that are ready to press somtimes go that route. but if you think about it why only get 300 or 500 disks made??shit im planning on doing more than 500 just in mail outs...lol. Im looking at 2000 copies minimum and thats FUCK ALL to an established artist. But like i said you gotta start somewhere... _________________ 'I Sleep Outside"-Lord Ceaser
